East African architecture and engineering firm FBW Group is one of 47 companies featuring in the 2021 Integrity Index released by The British Chamber of Commerce Kenya (BCCK).
The BCCK Integrity Index recognises efforts being made to run a “trusted and ethical” business. It is based on an assessment of a company’s regulatory compliance, track record and internal policies against corruption.
The companies listed operate in a range of sectors and vary in size from three to 3,000 employees, reflecting Kenya’s diverse economy. FBW is the only architectural practice in the index.
Antje Eckoldt, FBW Group director and its Kenya country manager, said: “We are proud to be featured in the 2021 Integrity Index by the British Chamber of Commerce Kenya.
“It features companies in Kenya that are fully committed to business integrity, have strong integrity procedures and a track record of working with multinational organisations.
“FBW’s core values are at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to transparency in our business dealings and sustainability in the services that we deliver.”
Sonal Sejpal, chair of BCCK, said: “The BCCK Integrity Index recognises efforts being made to run a trusted and ethical business.
“We aim to prove that ethical business pays, by signposting index companies to
UK organisations looking for Kenyan partners.”
Farida Abbas, BCCK chief executive, added: “Index companies are assessed on their regulatory compliance, track record and rules-based policies covering bribery, embezzlement, corruption and money laundering.
“BCCK and our partners will continue to support these businesses in embedding integrity best practices in their operations.”
UK/Kenyan businesses are among the largest investors, employers and taxpayers in Kenya, and are well represented across all sectors, from agriculture to renewable energy, as well as technology fast moving consumer goods, security and financial and professional services.
Announcing the list of companies making up the BCCK 2021 Integrity Index, Theo Clarke MP, The UK’s Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Kenya, said: “Integrity remains a key pillar in building mutual prosperity for the UK and Kenya.
“I am delighted to be here, as we rebuild our economies together from the Covid-19
pandemic, and through COP26, to accelerate action against climate change.”
The BCCK’s Business Integrity Initiative provides practical guidance, toolkits and public private dialogues.
