Based on the current Vice Chancellor’s desire to have Uganda “keep it’s best and brightest,” the new Kayanja Center for Global Health (to be headed by Massachusetts General Hospital’s Center for Global Health) will serve as an international center for collaborative research, focusing on innovative solutions for delivery of rural healthcare and serving as a new, iconic social nexus for the currently dispersed MUST Medical Campus.
Phase 1 of this state-of-the-art academic hub will provide a collaborative, flexible lab, office, and classroom space, as well as the first auditorium on campus. Early design concepts investigate a unique and locally fabricated shading and ventilating skin, embedding a sustainable response to the local climate and needs of the facility.
