The new science laboratories for the International School of Uganda (ISU) in Lubowa were officially opened on November 26th. The FBW design uses locally sourced, natural, sustainable material that is complementary to the existing environment that will aid in teaching students about sustainable design. Other renewable features include a solar water heater, rain collection reservoir, high ceilings with natural cross ventilation and a greenhouse that regulates the air temperature via a solar chimney. The overall design is child-friendly and encourages learning through the melding of science and environment.
