FBW Group is celebrating 25 years of quality design, architecture, planning and engineering work across East Africa.

Over a quarter of a century, the multi-disciplinary group has built a considerable reputation for delivering impressive, responsive and high-value construction projects to international standards.

The Covid-19 pandemic has curtailed some of the celebrations planned to mark the milestone but the group is moving ahead with the production of a 25th anniversary publication highlighting some of its landmark projects.

Since its creation FBW has delivered prestigious developments ranging from cutting-edge medical centres to luxury hotels.

It has also made its mark in the industrial, residential, leisure, retail and office sectors. Some of the most striking developments in cities such as Kampala, where it has its headquarters, Kigali and Nairobi, have been delivered with the help of FBW’s expertise.

FBW works with private and institutional clients and over its 25 years has built longstanding relationships a trusted ‘Partner of Choice’ for projects across East Africa.

It also collaborates with major international organisations on programmes of regional importance both economically and socially, using its on-the-ground knowledge.

In addition, FBW has played a leading role in the development of design, architecture and engineering in East Africa and is proud of the number of professionals it has supported in building their careers.

The group has also recruited some of the top talent in East Africa and today has a staff of more than 30 professionals working from its office in Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania. It also has offices in the UK and Netherlands.

The company delivers a wide range of professional building and technical services, including pre-design, development consultancy, building appraisals and condition surveys, project management, architecture, civil and structural engineering.

It also carries out MEP engineering, telecommunication engineering, and other building consultancy expertise including masterplanning and feasibility studies.

FBW Group was founded by architects and engineers from the UK and Netherlands working in Tanzania, including Geoff Wilks, who is still the chairman of the group.

He says: “It is great to have reached our 25th anniversary milestone and to look back at the way FBW has grown and developed over the years. It has been an exciting and fulfilling journey.

“The publication that we are planning will tell that story through some of the key projects we have been involved in in East Africa over that time, delivering for our clients in a wide range of sectors.

“We continue to move the business forward by nurturing and attracting top talent. The result is a great team delivering great projects.

“We’re involved in developments that range from retail and leisure to housing and education, as well as offices and healthcare.

“As a multi-disciplinary practice, we are able to draw on a wide skills base and resources for our clients and that is what gives us the edge.

“Over a quarter of a century of work we’ve built up a strong track record of delivering prestigious, sensitive and high value projects.

“That is something we are really proud of. We’re looking forward to the next 25 years with optimism that we can continue to play our part in East Africa’s economic growth story.”
