  Recently completed: Hamu Mukasa Library

One of the country's largest University libraries, UCU's Hamu Mukasa Library in Mukono, was officially handed over in November.

The building is the result of a successful collaboration between Perkins & Will, the renowned US-based design architects, and FBW acting as executive architects and structural engineers on the ground, providing engineering, design and technical supervision.

The completion of the final phase of the tasteful renovation of Entebbe's famous Lake Victoria Hotel, has added another jewel to FBW's growing portfolio of luxury hotel and lodge projects completed in East Africa.

The project reinforces FBW's profile as Project Managers with a proven track record of ensuring the successful delivery of complex, sensitive, high-profile construction projects in the region.

Following our competition winning design, in asso- ciation with UK-based education specialist KSS Group, and our appoint- ment as full-service consultants, construction of this prestigious new KIST facility is due to start in early 2012.

  FBW engineers on the ground in Eastern DRC

In a further strengthening of FBW's reputation as delivery experts in the region, we have been appointed to ensure the successful project delivery of engineering works supporting the installation of two new waste water treatment plants at Heineken-owned breweries in Bukavu and Kisangani.

The project is providing a welcome return to the Brewery sector that was started by our partner firm GMP in Tanzania over 25 years ago.

  FBW announces 'in-house' Mechanical & Electrical Engineering department

FBW Group continues to expand its project delivery expertise with the formation of a new Mechanical and Electrical Engineering department from January 2012 onwards. Announcing this new service at the firm's End-of-the-year party in October, Group Managing Director Paul Moores reaffirmed FBW's commitment to provide its clients a 'one-stop-centre' for building consultancy throughout the East African region.

The addition of this new unit also underlines the Group's continuing expansion of project resources, which has seen the company grow from 27 to 65 people over the last two years.

With more guests than ever, the annual FBW event has become firmly established on Kampala's corporate calendar as an essential date for regional construction industry players.

As guest of honour, His Excellency Martin Shearman, British High Commissioner to Uganda, used the occasion to reaffirm the UK's commitment to support- ing British companies operating in Africa and to congratulate FBW Group upon their achievements.
